Reunions in Michigan: During 2002 there were two Caverly reunions that took place in Michigan. The following reports were submitted for your information.

Reported by Barbara (Caverly) Pieckert: The 3rd Annual Caverly Family Reunion was held on July 14, 2002 at the Indian Springs Metro Park in White Lake, MI. It was a beautiful Sunday, sunny, hot and a little too humid. Everyone brought their favorite dish to share. Hot dogs, burgers and chicken strips were cooked on the grill. The kids played games like breaking the pinnate, pennies in the sand, and finding M&M's in a dish of whipped cream. The adults passed a wrapped box to Stop the Music, and a TV was raffled and won by Michelle (Peickert) Parker. MaryAnn (Baer) and Tom Smyth came the farthest from Cookeville, TN. Newlyweds were Dan and Julie Kelley of Columbiaville, MI. Married the longest were Hugh and Emmerence Caverly of Farmington Hills, MI., celebrating their 50th anniversary on January 19, 2002. Everyone enjoyed looking at old pictures and family albums. Family group pictures were taken. There were approximately 60 people present. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed the fun, and the prizes, and look forward to the next gathering in 2003! Barbara ended her report with these words. "These reunions are for the younger generation to establish a bond within the family as we reminisce of olden times, with the hopes of them continuing these events as we learned growing up with our parents, grandparents"

Reported by Karen Adamcik: Descendents of Joseph Nelson Caverly held a reunion at the Plainfield Township Hall in Hale, MI Sunday, August 24, 2002. A whole pig was roasted, beverages were provided, and everyone brought their favorite dish for the potluck. Pennies in the sand and a pinnate provided entertainment for the children. Based on her 12 years of research, Karen Adamcik gave a brief synopsis on the Caverly ancestors dating back to 1644. A white elephant sale provided funds for next year's reunion to which all Caverlys are invited. 60 people attended this reunion.

Editors Note: I have not included the names of the 120 or so people who attended these reunions, although they were listed, in order to save some space for other things. I am sure that Barbara or Karen would be happy to give you that list if you so needed.

Reported by Ann Caverly West: The immediate families of Ann and her sister Dorothy Warne, and their brothers, got together in Emerald Isle, NC on July21-28, 2002. Dorothy and her 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; Ann and George and their 4 children, 4 grand children and 3 great grandchildren; brother Bob Caverly and wife Janet with their daughter and 2 grandchildren; brother Bill and wife Dorothy and their 3 children and 7 grandchildren made a total of 65-70. Each family had their own oceanside place to stay for a week of 'family fun'. Ann sent along a wonderful group picture of all the generations together. Such a great time!

Family News: The following deaths have occurred since our last publication.

Beatrice P. Lane, 91, of Laconia, NH. the daughter of Percival R. and Myra (Caverly) Lane, died July 17, 2002. She worked for the New England Telephone Co. and was a member of the Telephone pioneers of America

Genealogy news: Karen Adamcik wrote "I have finally succeeded in putting the 36 pages plus a page of contents on CD that can be used in any CD ROM drive if Microsoft Works (not Word) is available. It includes the NY ancestors, their movements to Ontario and then the move of Charles and Rebecca Caverly to Michigan and their descendents. As I do more research, and more information and pictures of ancestors become available, I hope to add to and update the CD every year or two-so it is a work in progress. I am charging $5 per CD to cover costs including mailing should anyone be interested." Karen's e-mail is: kadamcik@tir.com.
